New Year

Now is the time we make promises we'll never keep and get ideas to start something or stop it. I think very little stick to a plan. This year, I am not promising myself anything huge. Last year, in 9 months, I managed to get 15 books out that I had in manuscript, handwritten form (2 short story collections, a 9 book series about zombies,2  vampyre/westerns and two horror novels) That is pretty much a big deal to be that prolific! Most are both e-reader form or in paperbacks and the rest are about to go paperbacks as well.
What do I worry about? Like any writers, I worry and wonder if the next novel is in me. Will I have ideas and get the books written? I have three on the burners right now. I have a good 3-4 in my head as ideas. I may even write another zombie book like my nephew wants me to (he picked the title and ideas so TY to Harrison for his brilliant ideas) I also am helping edit an amazing short story collection by Nic Hatfield and May collaborate with him on an idea he has for a book that is truly the next HUGE book. I worry that I can't do it justice as it is bigger than me by far!
I plan to release at least 7 books this next year. I am so thankful I am happy to work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week doing this.
I want to pay more attention to the writing of some friends who are amazing writers: Graham Masterton, Joe McKinny, Kealan Patrick Burke, Rhiannon Frater, Bowie Ibarra, and Jason Christie. I promise and resolve I will be as gracious as they are and work as hard as they do.I will thank my copy editor more and praise my agent. I will behave and do as my PR agent says.13 is my number and in 2013, i resolve to be a better writer. And I resolve to try to write something that isn';t splatter punk or cannibalistic (Lord how I try not to go to those themes but do so anyway).
I resolve to write because it's what I do.
I hope the rest follows. I don;t need to get rich or famous from writing, but I do need to entertain and scare the pants off all I can!
     Happy New Years!

Devil's Details was just released....that ,means there are 4 in the series....about 1400 pages of zombie scares.

So the work continues on George's Terms which was supposed to be a kind of easy, fluff piece, but has turned into a novel I really like. It is at first glance, about zombies, but like Romero, it is a backdrop for other messages. I am feeling a eugenics theme.  In my down time....besides searching for a doggie to add to the family.. I am reading a few authors. I branched out! I was reading only King, Laymon, Lee, Koontz, McCammon but I have now discovered my new favs. Will list and link them.

A few years ago, I had the honor of speaking to Dean Koontz via snail mail and we talked of how my real life was imitating some of his novel From the Corner of His Eye (my son showed did things the main character did and demanded a "Goldie Treaver" From the "Cal-forny man and this makes sense if you  are one of his fans....it's creepy when your 2 year old says this! ) And Dean was most kind about the death of my daughter who was named for one of his characters, Perris.

Anyway, I have had the honor of meeting some very famous people (mainly in Jamaica where everyone goes to get away) and have found them all to be very normal and nice.I am naturally reclusive, but if I were famous and in the spotlight, I would hope to show the same sincerity and class of those whom I have gotten to know. One new person I have "met" is Kealan Patrick Burke.  Really nice person and he writes very scary, creepy stories that make me feel he has been peeking into my inner thoughts and fears. I have this running joke in my family..I say someone is going to be huge (predicted Harrison Ford and several more actors) and I think Mr. Burke is going to be HUGE as in a runaway talent. Already acclaimed, he's making it...but I feel he's like the iceburg...most of what is headed our way is hidden. Anyway...just saying I found his novels and that's who I am reading along with Ketchum, Keane, Landsdale, and Allison M Dickson and Lee Moan.

That's who I like right now and I am impossible to please. Okay...I can be a real bitch about writing.
That's it. TY to Kealan for giving me the link he preferred and for being such a gracious person.
